Mile High United Way Sends Students Back to School with Backpacks and School Supplies

SHARE

Mile High United Way supports students and families across Metro Denver as they transition back to school through our annual Back to School Bash.
Each year, students receive new backpacks filled with supplies, and teachers are provided resources to reduce their out-of-pocket expenses. We recently held our third annual Back to School Bash, distributing over 250 backpacks to 99 families. During the event, our Presenting Sponsor Crocs handed out shoes for students. United Launch Alliance staff engaged kids in STEM-activity kits, and U.S. Bank staff provided snacks for families. Check out a video recap on our Facebook page!

Affording school supplies is challenging for many families as prices continue to rise each year. The Back to School Bash is one way Mile High United Way supports the community and helps ease the financial burden for parents and teachers. This event aligns with our Community Priority to Support Education and Academic Success, and ensures students start the school year off right!

“When kids have the supplies they need for school, they feel excited about school. Feeling excited helps them do well in school, which really is what we want for all our kids,” said Mile High United Way Chief Development Officer Chelsea Carver.

We are currently preparing for a second distribution in the Longmont area for 100 students.  Mile High United Way is distributing over 500 backpacks in total this year thanks to our incredible corporate partners and donors who ran supply drives in the weeks leading up to the event. We are so grateful to our partners, volunteers, and sponsors for making this year’s Back to School Bash a success. This is what it means to be a Community United!

Event sponsors included: Crocs, Ibotta, United Launch Alliance, SM Energy, FORV/S, Comcast, Premier Members Credit Union, Eldorado Natural Spring Water, Delta Dental, TechInsights, U.S. Bank, KS 107.5, Dell Technologies and Technologent. A special thank you to CBS News and Fox31 for covering the event.
