Eight Ways to Support Families This Holiday Season

SHARE

We are grateful for each volunteer who supports our mission to serve Metro Denver families. As the holiday season approaches, there are many ways you can join our work as we connect families to the resources they need to thrive, such as access to basic needs support, employment opportunities, stable housing, small business support and tax assistance.

Here are some ways you can engage in our community this holiday season:

1. Run or Volunteer at the 50th Annual Mile High United Way Turkey Trot
Join Denver’s greatest Thanksgiving tradition AND give back to your community at this four-mile run/walk. This year we’re celebrating 50 years. Join this year’s Turkey Trot!

2. Donate a Thanksgiving Basket for a Family
Provide a delicious Thanksgiving meal for families this year. Donate items or make a monetary donation through Nov. 10 to help us distribute 275 baskets to local families.

3. Volunteer with Tax Help Colorado
Our Tax Help Colorado program is powered by compassionate and dedicated volunteers who provide free tax preparation services to low- and middle-income families. Last year, Tax Help Colorado volunteers helped taxpayers file almost 7,000 returns, resulting in $11.8 million in refunds! IRS-certified volunteers connect residents to the tax credits and refunds they’re owed. Volunteers provide more than a refund, though. They help families save money and build toward a better future. Register now for the Volunteer Kickoff on Nov. 29.

4. Run a Toy Drive for our Children’s Holiday Party
Each year, Mile High United Way collects toys for our Children’s Holiday Party. This annual event spreads holiday cheer to the children and families we serve with games, crafts, a visit from Santa Claus and gifts. Help us reach our goal of serving 1,000 children this year!

5. Volunteer with our Website Build Initiative to Support Small Businesses
Donate your time to help small business owners achieve their dreams by volunteering with our Website Build Initiative, hosted by our United for Business program. Volunteers provide support in areas of digital marketing, web design and development, photography and videography to help our small business community thrive. Register to volunteer with local businesses today!

6. Volunteer with our 211 Help Center
Our 211 Help Center is a free, statewide service connecting people to critical resources, such as food, shelter, rental assistance, child care and more. Volunteers support our 211 staff while also helping families in our community. Get started today!

7. Join a Donor Network
We believe we are strongest when we are a #CommunityUnited. Our donor networks bring together leaders of all ages and backgrounds across Metro Denver to address our community’s most-pressing needs. Each holiday season, our donors engage in community-centered activities to further their impact. Find the right group for you today!

8. GIVE
When you invest in Mile High United Way, you help connect families to the wraparound support services they need to thrive. Generous and compassionate donors like you make our important work possible. Give now to support families.
