Celebrating Our Volunteers During National Volunteer Week 2024

SHARE

Each year during National Volunteer Week, we celebrate the volunteers who help us create change for families across Metro Denver. From advising small business owners on how to grow their companies to supporting families at community events like the Women United Village and Back to School Bash – volunteers are a critical part of our work.

This year, we are pleased to recognize three outstanding volunteers who embody what it means to be a #CommunityUnited! Each honoree exemplifies the lasting impact one person can have when they lend their time, passion and expertise.

Lucia Mears, volunteer with our United for Business program:

Lucia has provided marketing support for clients of our Website Build Initiative for almost two years. As a small business owner, she understands how to effectively reach a target audience. She supports participants with dedication, insight and a genuine passion for their success and growth. We are grateful for all our skills-based volunteers who support our small business community. Felicia Bolton, pictured with her two children, is a volunteer with our PIE program as a member of the advisory councilFelicia Bolton, volunteer with our Personal Investment Enterprise (PIE) program:

As a former PIE program participant, Felicia understands the importance of setting and saving toward financial goals. She currently offers an important perspective to our PIE Advisory Committee, which helps guide the program. Operating in Boulder and Broomfield counties, PIE provides families with access to a matched savings account and financial literacy classes so they can save money for first-time homeownership, or business and post-secondary education goals. Jason volunteered more than 200 hours at multiple tax sites, as well as providing virtual tax assistance through getyourrefund.org since 2023! We are grateful for Jason’s outstanding commitment to ensuring Colorado families receive the full refund and tax credits they are owed!
