Affordable Housing, Education and Small Business Support

PERSONAL INVESTMENT ENTERPRISE

Program Update

The Personal Investment Enterprise (PIE) program helps families achieve their dreams of owning a home, starting a new business or pursuing their education.

In 2024, Mile High United Way fully transitioned PIE to our longtime partner in operating the program, Community Action Programs of Boulder County, ensuring that PIE can continue to serve families in Boulder and Broomfield counties. We encourage you to visit Community Action Programs’ website to learn how you can support this important work.

We are proud of the PIE program and look forward to its ongoing success in Boulder and Broomfield counties!

How The Program Works

PIE participants enroll in financial education classes and gain access to a matched savings account (at a rate of 4-to-1) to strengthen their path to financial stability. PIE is provided in partnership with Community Action Programs of Boulder County.

PIE strengthens the path to financial stability for low-income families through matches savings and financial literacy classes.

Participants enroll in classes covering a range of topics related to financial literacy to help them develop good saving habits.

We engage the community to invest in families as they achieve their dream of homeownership, small business success, and financial stability.

Once participants save $1,000 (over a period of 6 to 30 months), they receive a 4-to-1 matched saving account to help them save more and build assets.

Why Asset Building Matters

Asset building strengthens economic mobility and stability at the household level and creates a stronger, more resilient community. Individuals in the program can see beyond paying their bills month to month, and pursue their dreams while moving towards economic self-sufficiency.
