No-cost website creation program for small businesses located in Denver, Adams, Arapahoe, Broomfield, Boulder, Douglas, or Jefferson Counties.

The United for Business Website Build Initiative partners with small businesses – prioritizing minority- and women-owned establishments – to create a website and build a sustaining digital marketing strategy. Business owners will bring their stories, products, and service to life through innovative, creative solutions. They also will establish sales, revenue and marketing goals with support from business and digital marketing experts.

If your business is seeking to expand its online presence or refresh your current website, this program is for you. The Website Build Initiative provides design and content creation, free of charge. Participating businesses also receive six free months of platform hosting fees but must cover the monthly cost beyond.

** A $50 deposit is required with the application and will be fully refunded upon the successful completion of the program.

* All websites are designed using WordPress and WordPress compatible plug-ins such as WooCommerce.

What business owners receive:

  • Website design
  • Content creation
  • Six months of platform hosting fees (Savings of $49 monthly)
  • Digital marketing training
  • Individual consulting for Market Strategy creation

Eligibility criteria:

  • Business has been operational for at least one year
  • Business resides within any of the following counties: Denver, Adams, Arapahoe, Broomfield, Boulder, Douglas, and Jefferson counties
  • Business is engaged in activities that are legal under both Colorado state and federal law
  • Business employs 1-10 employees full-time
  • Annual revenue between $30,000 – $200,000
  • Must have at least one social media page (Facebook, Instagram, etc.)
  • Registered with the Colorado Secretary of State
  • Must NOT have an existing website: Businesses cannot be associated with the following industry terms: liquor business, tobacco business, pornography, gambling, marijuana, and businesses related to war and weapons.

Expectations (all of these expectations must be met to receive reimbursement of the $50 participation fee):

  • Participants must attend ALL workshops (see dates below).
  • Participants must complete the and submit required content by the deadline given (see dates below) before his/her/their website design can begin.
  • Participants must meet weekly with a United for Business advisor to work on completing or updating their Marketing Plan.
  • Only 3-5 changes are allowed to the website after its launch.

Program dates:

  • October 28-November 15, 2024: Meet with your assigned business advisor to complete the Branding and Website worksheet
  • October 28, 2024: Branding and Marketing workshop
  • November 15, 2024: Branding and Website worksheet and website materials are due
  • November 18-November 22, 2024: Meet with web designer
  • December 17, 2024: Digital Marketing workshop part 1
  • December 19, 2024: Digital Marketing workshop part 2
  • December 9, 2024-February 21, 2025: Meet with your assigned business advisor to work on your marketing plan
  • January 6-10, 2025: First website walkthroughs
  • February 1-14, 2025: Second website walkthroughs
  • February 14, 2025: Deadline to complete your marketing plan
  • March 3-7, 2025: Review the website tutorial with your assigned advisor
  • March 11, 2025: Website Maintenance workshop

*All classes are held in-person from 6-8pm at Mile High United Way, 711 Park Ave West, Denver, CO 80205

Priority will be given to:

  • Legacy or neighborhood-serving business versus franchise
  • Minority-owned businesses
  • Women-owned businesses

Application process:

  1. Complete and submit this application.
  2. 3-5 business days after submitting the application, you will receive a link to Sign-up Genius to sign up for an interview with our team so we can learn more about what your website needs and expectations are to determine if this is the best program for your needs.
  3. You will be notified of your acceptance or decline to this program two weeks following your interview.
  4. If you would like feedback on your application or interview, you can set up a time to meet with our team after receiving your notification of acceptance or decline.

    Our program is grant funded. To help us better understand who we’re serving, a requirement for many grants that we apply for, please answer the following confidential questions that do not determine eligibility for our program.
  • A minority-owned business is at least 51% percent owned, controlled, operated, and managed by a person of a minority group.
  • A women-owned business is at least 51 percent owned, controlled, operated, and managed by a woman or women.
