Record-Breaking Turnout Marked the Event’s 50th Anniversary
(DENVER) – From grandparents and toddlers to dogs and people dressed as turkeys, more than 11,000 runners took part in Mile High United Way’s 50th Annual Turkey Trot presented by Xcel Energy on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 23, 2023, at Denver’s Washington Park.
The turnout broke records, making the event is one of the biggest Turkey Trots and 4-mile races in the country.
“It is such an honor that families make the Mile High United Way Turkey Trot part of their annual Thanksgiving tradition each year. Thanks to these runners, volunteers and sponsors, we can help even more Metro Denver families meet their basic needs and thrive this holiday season,” said Christine Benero, Mile High United Way president and CEO.

Founded 136 years ago, the organization supports families throughout Metro Denver by working to give all children a strong start, supporting education and academic success, and creating economic opportunity for all.
