The funds will allow Mile High United Way to provide strategic wraparound services for 250 families disproportionately impacted by the pandemic.
DENVER, CO – Mile High United Way is pleased to announce it has been awarded a $50,000 grant from Delta Dental of Colorado Foundation. This investment will support Mile High United Way Community Navigators who work with families to ensure basic needs are being met. These funds will allow this work to continue, specifically for those families who have been disproportionately impacted by the pandemic in the South Thornton, Aurora, and Globeville and Elyria-Swansea communities.
Community Navigators are placed within the Mile High United Way United for Families and United for Schools programs; they connect families to preventive and basic health care needs by identifying areas of support and linking families to resources that are fundamental to maintaining health and wellness. Through this investment, Community Navigators will help 250 families connect to basic services such as food, housing and healthcare; assistance will also be provided for rent or utilities.
“We are grateful to Delta Dental of Colorado Foundation for this bold and strategic investment in our work,” said Christine Benero, President and CEO of Mile High United Way. “Mile High United Way Community Navigators report that residents in under-resourced communities are facing a high-level of stress and anxiety caused by the loss of a job, potential housing evictions, and food insecurity. We know these families have been disproportionally impacted by the pandemic; and it is imperative we continue to provide wraparound and basic need support as they navigate this unprecedented year.”
Delta Dental of Colorado Foundation has provided $2 million in funding to support organizations providing wraparound services to community members most impacted by COVID-19. “Now more than ever, we value the importance of one’s overall health,” said Adeeb Khan, Vice President of Corporate Social Responsibility & Executive Director, Delta Dental of Colorado Foundation. “Coordinated, collaborative wraparound services with multiple options truly empower community members to access and navigate larger systems that impact their health. It’s important to reinforce resources, especially now as so many organizations have stood-up to adapt and deliver new solutions for community members.”
