That’s why Mile High United Way expands access to high-quality early learning and partners with schools to make sure students have the support they need at every stage of their educational journey.
When children have the support they need to succeed, they can build bright futures and our community grows stronger for generations to come.
Many families in our community cannot access affordable, high-quality early childcare. As a result, parents struggle to work because they lack reliable care, and children miss out on the enriching early learning experiences that help prepare them for school.
These challenges often continue into the school years. When families face instability with housing, food or transportation, children are more likely to fall behind in the classroom, affecting their attendance, academic progress and future opportunities.
Colorado ranks ninth in the nation for the highest childcare costs, according to an analysis released by Care.com.
There are 2 licensed childcare slots for every 3 children under 6 in a household where all parents are in the labor force, creating a deficit of 88,500 slots. – Common Sense Institute
During the 2024-2025 school year, nearly 245,000 children in Colorado experienced chronic absenteeism – Attendance Works
