10 Ways to Support Our Community During the COVID-19 Pandemic

SHARE

Our community is coming together to support those impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Join us! Together, we can provide critical resources to our neighbors in need. Together, we are a #CommunityUnited.

Here are the top 10 ways to join Mile High United Way’s COVID-19 Response:

10. Become a Virtual Volunteer
Join our Virtual Volunteer Team and assist our community from the safety of your home. View the range of virtual or remote volunteer opportunities we currently have available: View all virtual volunteer opportunities!

9. Donate a Thanksgiving Basket
Help participants in our Bridging the Gap (BTG) program celebrate Thanksgiving by donating all the ingredients for a home-cooked meal. Help us reach our goal of providing 75 Thanksgiving Baskets to our BTG youth. Email volunteer@unitedwaydenver.org to receive a list of supplies needed to build your own basket or donate to fund a basket.

8. Support our Children’s Holiday Party
This year, we are providing a Holiday Box for each family. Boxes will be filled with a gift card for each child as well as other goodies such as ornaments, gift tags, wrapping supplies, and more. Get involved by running a supply drive, volunteering virtually, or donating to help us reach our goal of providing 300 Holiday Boxes to families.

7. Volunteer to Support Small Businesses
Our United for Business program works to strengthen under-resourced communities in Metro Denver by supporting small, local businesses. Are you skilled in small business management? You can help local business owners during this time by volunteering your time and expertise. Learn more about United for Business and how to get involved.

6. Send a Message of Hope
During these uncertain times, we want to show how our community is coming together to support one another. We would love to hear from you! Send a message of hope and encouragement, and we will share it with our network of program participants, nonprofit partners, 2-1-1 staff, and more.

5. Become a Virtual Pen Pal
Send messages of support to a Senior who needs it, because a little extra encouragement goes a long way in brightening a person’s day. Register Now!

4. Join the Mile High United Way Turkey Trot
Run the 47th annual *virtual* Mile High United Way Turkey Trot. This year, you can take the Turkey Trot anywhere! Support your community and get in a run before the Thanksgiving fun. Learn more and register today!

3. Inspire Others to Stay Home and Wear a Mask
With COVID numbers on the rise in Colorado again, it’s even more important to follow the health and safety orders issued by our state. Wearing your mask is a critical part of keeping our community safe, but it’s about more than that, too. As we work together to avoid another statewide shutdown, we have to be mindful of how many people outside of our household we come in contact with and approach social situations with caution and social distancing measures in place.

Mile High United Way’s community programs are focused on meeting both the immediate and long-term needs of residents all along the Front Range. We are working to surround our most under-resourced neighborhoods with wrap-around support, as they are and will be impacted most by the COVID-19 outbreak. With your support, we can help more people in need of critical support during this time.
