Community Grants Support Nonprofits Focused on Basic Needs, Affordable Housing, Education & Early Child Care

DENVER – Mile High United Way is pleased to announce a $1.25 million investment in 53 organizations across Metro Denver. Organizations were selected following an innovative grantmaking process that centered the voices of each organization and the communities they serve.

The current grantees include organizations whose work aligns with the mission of Mile High United Way to connect community members to the resources they need to thrive, grow and move toward economic success.

From helping families access their basic needs – including housing, food, legal services and tax assistance – to providing early childhood education and out-of-school programming, these organizations help Metro Denver families thrive.

“For 138 years, Mile High United Way has identified and worked alongside our neighbors to solve our community’s most-pressing problems,” said Christine Benero, Mile High United Way president and CEO. “We recognize no one individual or organization can do this work alone. We are proud to invest in these 53 organizations to ensure greater access to the critical resources and support families need.”

As a part of our commitment to centering the experiences and perspectives of families across the region, Mile High United Way staff thoughtfully engaged the community during the grantmaking process. Organizations were invited to share mission, vision and programs through 133 virtual conversations. An anonymous panel of Mile High United Way staff, volunteers and community members joined each call to provide support and feedback to each organization.

“Mile High United Way’s inclusive, thoughtful approach places the stories of families at the center of this process. The Strategic Investment Grants are not just funds to community partners. Each grant represents an opportunity for us to reinforce our values and belief that our community is strongest when we work together to create change,” said Roweena Naidoo, Mile High United Way’s vice president of policy and community initiatives.
