Companies and Organizations Region-wide Collected Items to Distribute Saturday
DENVER – More than 130 families will have essential baby and toddler care items, following Mile High United Way’s annual Women United Village on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at the organization’s headquarters in Curtis Park. Nearly 120 volunteers helped distribute diapers, strollers, car seats and other items to families who participate in Mile High United Way programs.
The need for support for new families is greater than ever. According to HealthyChildren.org, the cost of diapers alone is around $1,000 a year. This amount isn’t feasible for many Metro Denver families. The excitement of welcoming a child into the world should never be replaced by the stress of wondering how to cover their basic needs.
“Today reflects the power of community in action. When we see our neighbors come together to make sure families have what they need to give their children a strong start, it brings our work to life. Through every act of generosity, we are building a network of care that reminds families they are supported, valued and not alone,” said Christine Benero, Mile High United Way president and CEO.
“I received a double stroller today, which I couldn’t afford on my own. I’m very thankful Mile High United Way was here to help me. Even in addition to the Village, Mile High United Way is always there to help me. I hope other people get to experience this help,” said Rickeyshja, a mother who attended the event.
Watching volunteers, staff and community members distribute thousands of diapers, wipes and essential supplies sparked moments of joy and reflection for many who had once been new parents themselves.
Families also received wraparound services from Mile High United Way’s 211 Help Center Sponsored by Comcast, Denver Public Library, MotherWise Colorado, Lantern, Raising Colorado Kids, Savio House, and the YMCA.
