Nancy Reflects on Lessons Learned Through Women United

SHARE

“I have two sons so I try to think about what their lives would be like if, at 18 years old, they no longer had access to any support, resources, or direction from me or another trusted adult. I’m not sure my sons would have made it even with all those advantages. This helps me realize the enormous barriers and challenges that youth leaving the child welfare system have to overcome while on their own without the support and resources my sons had.”

Nancy learned the tough realities of young people aging out of the foster care system during a Women United Lunch and Learn. As a part of Women United you’ll connect with fellow women, but also with the issues of the community. Learn more about the challenges facing foster youth and what we’re doing to help with Mile High United Way’s Bridging the Gap.
