Ready, Set, College! to be adopted by Tocqueville Society

Tocqeville society adopts event that equips first-generation college students

Alumni of the Denver Metro Chamber Leadership Foundation have found a permanent home for their event to celebrate first-generation college students. The third annual Ready, Set, College! will take place Saturday, July 29, with Mile High United Way.

Founded by the 65 participants of the Leadership Foundation’s 2015 class of Leadership Denver, Ready, Set, College! provides tools, resources and support for first-generation college students preparing for their first year. In 2016, participants of the Leadership Foundation program Impact Denver led the event.

“We ask our alumni to take their knowledge of community issues and their connections with each other and channel that into action in an area they’re passionate about. For our alumni from Leadership Denver and Impact Denver, that was education – and we are thrilled that Ready, Set, College! will continue with the support of Mile High United Way,” said Leadership Foundation Executive Director Dan Lewis.

Ready, Set. College! will continue through Mile High United Way's Tocqueville Society – a group of 400 philanthropic leaders who collectively invest more than $10 million annually in the organization.

“This is a win for our business community,” said Mile High United Way President and CEO Christine Benero. “Ready, Set, College! aligns naturally with our work to ensure every individual is afforded the opportunity to succeed. I can’t think of a better way to mobilize our community.”
