Colorado Reading Corps Wraps Up Another Successful Year
As the school year winds down, so does another successful year for Mile High United Way’s AmeriCorps program, Colorado Reading Corps. Reading Corps literacy tutors have been hard at work providing literacy interventions to their students. Over the course of the 2013-14 school year, these tutors have served over 1,300 students in the Denver Metro Area. All of these students were projected to be below grade level at the end of third grade, and over 90% of them have shown significant growth since joining the program.
The successful 2013-14 campaign is a reflection of the powerful and efficient Reading Corps model. Reading Corps tutors use research-based literacy interventions that are proven to be successful. As the program continues to grow, so will our young readers and the future of Colorado. Reading Corps is always looking for dedicated tutors. We need 50 for the upcoming school year.
